KIM NICOTERA
My name is Kim Nicotera and I'm a well-rounded designer from Boston, Massachusetts. For as far back as I can remember, my world revolved around creative problem-solving. Not only was I always tinkering with my dad learning how to use the soldering iron to fix electronics or using a vice and wood glue to fix things around the house, but I was also inventing on paper. I had notebooks, backs of napkins, and old envelopes full of drawings.
In the 5th grade, I wrote an essay about my dream to become a commercial artist (I still have this essay thanks to my mother). In the 7th grade, I won my first poster contest; It was for Veteran's Day and I remember my design like it was yesterday. In high school, I took as many art classes as possible. I won a contest in 10th grade and had my own billboard in my city.
I pursued Advertising and Design in college and landed a role as a pre-press graphic designer 2 months after graduation. I worked for a global market research firm and learned a lot about the consumer mindset. Eventually, I pursued my Master's Degree in Art Education and taught visual arts for 21 years.
I made the decision to transition back into private industry and apply my vast range of knowledge to UX Design; an industry I am both excited and passionate about. I've had the opportunity to work with many age groups over the years and offer a unique perspective on inclusivity and solving problems for all.
In my free time, I can be found cooking, spending time with family and friends, soaking up the sun by the ocean, and spending quality time with my partner and pups.
